
The New York Chapter of the American College of Surgeons is pleased to offer multiple opportunities for residents and fellows to engage with scholarly activity at the 38th Annual Surgical Symposium, May 15–17, 2026, at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY.
Trainees are encouraged to participate in both:
Practice-Changing Papers — highlight impactful work that advances surgical practice
These opportunities are designed to promote academic excellence, professional development, and regional engagement across surgical disciplines.
Residents, fellows, and medical students are invited to submit original research abstracts for consideration at the 38th Surgical Symposium.

Eligibility
Category options include clinical or basic/scientific research.
In addition to the abstract competition, we invite submissions for Practice-Changing Papers — work that has demonstrated significant impact on surgical care, patient outcomes, protocols, or clinical practice.
These submissions may include seminal research, quality improvement initiatives, or publications that have influenced practice standards.
Selected practice-changing papers will be featured in a dedicated presentation session during the Symposium (Sunday, May 17 @ 9:30AM) and contribute to high-level discourse in the regional surgical community.

The NY Chapter ACS is seeking high-impact trauma cases for interactive discussion at the 2026 Surgical Symposium.
We are particularly interested in cases that highlight:
• Decision-making dilemmas
• Complications or unexpected outcomes
• Ethical or systems-based issues
• Multidisciplinary management
Submission Deadline: April 3
Notification Date: April 6
Cases selected will be asked to be presented on Sunday, May 17 at 10:30am during the "Complex Trauma Cases: A Multispecialty Panel" session.

Refund Policy
A handling fee of $25 is deducted for cancellation. Refund requests must be received by mail or email one week prior to the course. No refund will be made thereafter.
On-Site Registration
For on-site registration, add $25 to the appropriate category above (available only if space permits–please call first).
