Objectives
  • Understand the role the surgeon's management has in narcotic use after surgery, including the role biases may play in patient outcomes;

  • Understand the process to get involved in Enhanced Recovery after Surgery Programs and how they can help to improve patient outcomes and prevent narcotic use from turning into abuse or addiction;

  • Understand the medico-legal and economic impact of narcotic use in patients and addiction in the general population;

  • Develop a protocol for improving my practice's use of narcotic medications after surgery to reduce the likelihood of diversion or addiction in my patients
