Resident & Fellow Research Opportunities

The New York Chapter of the American College of Surgeons is pleased to offer multiple opportunities for residents and fellows to engage with scholarly activity at the 38th Annual Surgical Symposium, May 15–17, 2026, at The Sagamore Resort in Bolton Landing, NY.

Trainees are encouraged to participate in both:

  • Call for Trauma Cases
  • Practice-Changing Papers — highlight impactful work that advances surgical practice

These opportunities are designed to promote academic excellence, professional development, and regional engagement across surgical disciplines.

Call for Practice-Changing Papers

In addition to the abstract competition, we invite submissions for Practice-Changing Papers — work that has demonstrated significant impact on surgical care, patient outcomes, protocols, or clinical practice.

These submissions may include seminal research, quality improvement initiatives, or publications that have influenced practice standards.

Selected practice-changing papers will be featured in a dedicated presentation session during the Symposium (Sunday, May 17 @ 9:30AM)  and contribute to high-level discourse in the regional surgical community.
